Juice Cleansing Tips

Juice Fasting is something that we should all do periodically, at least every six months. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your next five-day cleanse.

Tips for a few days before:

If you like to be prepared, you can plan out your juices for the week and what you're going to throw in them. It's good to have a rough idea of the types of juices or green smoothies you'll be making during the fast, and shop accordingly. This avoids waste and saves money.

Also, stock up on herbal teas. You can have as many herbal teas as you like during the day, and it's a great excuse to buy some more exotic blends, especially any herbs that are beneficial to and aid detoxing.

Another great drink to have during the day is lemon in hot water with some ginger. Blend up a small piece of ginger with a glass of filtered water and you have a lovely ginger juice to go with your hot lemon drink. Very alkalising and detoxifying.

The great news is that you can juice or make green smoothies as often as you like during the day, or when you get hungry. Here is an example of my shopping list (I will have a few fruits in there, but I aim to keep the sugar content down as much as possible during the fast.):

Shopping List

  • Kale
  • Mint
  • Basil
  • Parsley
  • Ginger
  • Lemons
  • Limes
  • Tomatoes
  • Beetroot
  • Carrots
  • Cabbage
  • Lettuce
  • Apple
  • Orange
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Kiwifruit
  • Watermelon
  • Baby Spinach
  • Chia Seeds
  • Spirulina
  • Chlorella
  • Bee Pollen
  • Young Thai Coconut
  • Himalayan Sea Salt
  • Good quality Probiotic capsule
  • Probiotic Drink
  • Dry Skin Brush

With the probiotic drink, I like to make a Coconut Kefir at home. (It's really very easy! Here are some easy instructions.)

I'd also strongly recommend booking a colonic or two along with some infra-red sauna sessions and massages. They are great at helping move the detoxification process along as some of you may find (as I do), things just stop working all together! And during a detox its crucial things keep moving.

Buy a dry skin brush from your local health food store, or sometimes a good chemist will sell them. These help stimulate the lymph system and remove dead skin cells daily.

Let your friends and family know of your planned juice fast, and ask for their support during this time. They may think you are crazy, but you're in a great position to set an example and be a walking advertisement for all the benefits of doing a juice fast! It might even inspire them to go and do one themselves!

Try to scale back your social engagements, it will be way too tempting to be out and surrounded by food and possibly alcohol.

Have some guided meditation CDs on hand, as these will come in handy during those moments of wanting to give in! Also get online and chat to others who are also juice fasting at the same time as you. Moral support is so important during this time and really does help.

Buy a journal so you can jot down daily how you are feeling before, during and after the fast. This will be great to get those thoughts, feelings and emotions out as well as to look back on after the fast.

Also please check in with your healthcare practitioner before starting a juice fast, especially if you are on medication, have a serious illness or pregnant.

Tips for during your juice fast:
Most people experience some sort of detox reaction during a juice fast. I remember mine vividly! I had serious detox brain and could not even string a sentence together.

Other people sail through withou problems, going to work, hitting the gym, running marathons....

It's important to check in with your body on a daily basis during the fast. If you're feeling tired that day, take it easy and try to schedule some nap time if possible. If you're bouncing out of bed, then feel free to do your usual routine, including exercise.

What to expect when you're fasting:
Tiredness, moodiness, anger, weakness, light headedness, insomnia, skin breakouts, irritability are among the more common ones. If you have a recurrent health issue (ie. eczema, acne, sinus issues), be warned that may get worse before it gets better.

It's important to be patient and breathe through these periods, call on a friend or chat with someone who is going through the same thing. You might find that a lot of emotional stuff surfaces, too.

Just take deep breaths and know that these moments shall pass. By the end of the five days, you'll will be feeling incredible.

Journalling every day helps, too.

Why do these detox reactions occur?
By doing a juice fast, you are telling your body you are ready to heal and detoxify. It starts cleaning house, but if you have a lot of toxins, your body will be working overdrive to dump those toxins, making you feel sick. Your bowels may decide to have you spend most of the time on the toilet or the complete opposite!

Tips for removing toxins:
1. Colonics.
These are brilliant at removing blocked waste matter and toxins from the colon, as well as toning the bowel and creating a clean environment internally to allow good bacteria to flourish and colonize. Good bacteria cannot colonize a toxic environment, an important tip if you really want your expensive pro-biotics to work.

2. Infrared Sauna
This is my favourite sauna, far better than a Swedish sauna, because it penetrates deeper into the skin's layers and targets organs to detox from the inside out. Plus, there is no blasting steam, just a nice dry, comfortable heat.

3. Massage
This is a wonderful way to move toxins out of the body. Not only does it feels great, it will help you sleep better, too.

4. Exercise
As mentioned before, do this at a pace that suits your body's energy levels during the juice fast. Gentle walks or yoga are great for the low energy days. If you feel up to it, do your normal exercise routine if that means a run or hitting the gym. Working up a sweat is also a great way to get toxins out of the body.

5. Sun
Direct sunlight on our bodies gives us energy, and that really important vitamin, vitamin D, which boosts our immune system and helps prevent cancer. Sunlight also triggers our body to produce 200 anti-microbials that kill off bad bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses. Try to get at least 15 minutes to half an hour of sunshine a day, as the best way to get vitamin D into your body is on skin without sunscreen. (Try to avoid peak UV periods if you're concerned about sunburn.) Roll up your sleeves or expose a leg or two!

6. Dry Skin Brush
A dry skin brush is essential for a daily mini detox, and makes you feel good! It also makes your skin lovely and soft and helps banish cellulite. Do in the morning for a few minutes before you get in the shower. Start by brushing in long sweeps from the base of your toes, work up your legs, up to the middle of your body, working towards your heart. Then start from the tips of your fingers and work in long sweeps down your body towards your heart. Make sure you do your neck, and back as well. Your body should be tingling all over.

Please note: Do not store juices in the fridge to drink later, unless you own a Cold Press Masticating Juicer such as the Oscar Neo. Juices oxidize very quickly and will not be beneficial to you unless drink them immediately.

How to eat after a juice fast:
On the last day of your juice fast, you may be desperate to eat anything--even the furniture--or you may be so nonchalant about eating, you could continue fasting for another year. (Ha!)

However, some people do continue the fast for another few days or weeks. Your body will signal when its really, truly ready to eat again. This does not mean a trip to McDonalds or a three course meal from the in-laws who mean well.

Breakfast: On your first day off the juice fast, I recommend a fruit bowl (and only fruit) for breakfast. If you prefer not to have the fruit, a simple, light salad with a lemon juice, dressing would be a lovely way to break the fast.

Lunch: Continue with a salad for lunch, you may want to include some sprouts and fermented foods (cultured vegetables) here. These types of foods are pre-digested, which makes them easy to digest and the cultured vegetables are teeming with good bacteria.

Dinner: Lightly steamed vegetables tossed with lemon juice, dulse flakes and himalayan sea salt would be a nice option for dinner. Or maybe a miso soup or a raw vegetable soup with garlic and some cayenne pepper. Continue eating light foods such as these for two days.

The key is light foods, no meat, refined sugar or dairy or wheat and they must be organic. You do not want to stress your organs and tax your digestion by eating heavy foods right away. Keep up your fluids and keep taking your pro-biotics. (This should be part of your daily routine anyway.)

On Day 3 continue to eat light meals but you may start to re-introduce nuts and seeds, for example breakfast could be some mixed soaked nuts with soaked chia blended to make a morning breakfast porridge and add some home made raw almond milk. Add back in the good fats such as Coconut Oil, Avocado, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Hemp Seed Oil or Flax Seed Oil. Add in some gluten free grains, such as Quinoa, Amaranth or Millet to your meals.

On Day 4, continue to eat as above, but you may introduce some light animal protein (if you wish) such as steamed fish, chicken or eggs to your meal. Ensure the fish you eat is high up on the food chain and all eggs and chicken are organic and locally sourced.

On Day 5, you may re-introduce dairy and meat if you desire. However if you do, any dairy should be raw (not pasteurized) and any meat should be grass fed, organic and locally sourced. Keep in mind food combining principals also when planning meals.

Now that you have done a fast this is a great opportunity to not slip back into any bad habits consuming processed foods, wheat, dairy, meat or sugar. Heck, why not give up the coffee and alcohol too! These are strongly addictive foods and substances and will have you back on that vicious cycle before you know it. (Don't I know it!)

And finally, the most important part is to congratulate yourself! What a huge achievement and truly special way to honor yourself--to allow yourself to become a healthier, stronger more vibrant version of you!

Importance of a Healthy Lymphatic System

The lymphatic system is one of the most overlooked systems in the body, despite the fact it plays a central role in your overall health. Keeping your lymphatic system in top shape is an important aspect in maintaining a healthy life.

What is the lymphatic system?
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels that runs through your entire body. Lymph nodes are strategically located throughout the system for optimal performance, and are clustered in areas like the underarms, abdomen and neck.

What does the lymphatic system do?
Your lymphatic system performs the vital function of cleansing the fluid that surrounds the cells in your body by removing impurities and waste products. This process not only protects your body from toxins, but also allows cells in the body to function at their best.

What happens when the lymphatic system can't function properly?
An unhealthy lymphatic system can have a serious impact on your health. Poor lymph function is associated with fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, aches and pains, bloating and poor digestion. Studies have shown that an unhealthy lymph system can contribute to cellulite, fat deposits and obesity as well.

How can you keep your lymphatic system healthy?
Drink plenty of water. The lymphatic system depends on a constant supply of fluid, so it's very important to drink at least eight glasses of water a day to keep it functioning at its best. Purified or filtered water is the best choice.

Choose healthy foods. Preservatives, artificial sweeteners, refined grains, excess sugar, chemicals and processed foods all put strain on the lymphatic system. Choose foods that are organic, whole and natural as much as possible.

Eat your fruits and veggies. Fruits and vegetables supply the lymphatic system with important vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytonutrients. The chlorophyll in green vegetables is especially beneficial to the lymphatic system.

Get your essential fatty acids. Healthy fats are necessary for the proper function of the lymphatic system. Good sources of essential fatty acids include pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, walnuts, almonds and avocados.

Stay active. When your muscles move, they essentially massage the lymphatic system and promote the flow of fluid through your lymph vessels. Regular exercise like stretching, yoga, daily walks and strength training are all great ways to keep those lymph juices flowing.

Practice deep breathing. Like exercise, deep breathing promotes the movement of fluid through the lymphatic system while providing it with fresh oxygen.

Take echinacea, wild indigo and goldenseal. These herbs support immunity and help cleanse the lymphatic system. These should be used as part of a cleansing period lasting for about 2-4 weeks, one to three times per year.

Get a massage. Massage stimulates the lymph nodes and helps promote fluid movement in lymph vessels. Lymph drainage massage is especially supportive of the lymphatic system.

Relax in a sauna. A weekly hour in the sauna or steam bath can facilitate detoxification and take some pressure off the lymphatic system.

Colon Hydrotherapy For Cancer!

Colonic Hydrotherapy, also known as Colonic Irrigation, is a natural way to aid health and feel clean and balanced. Colon therapy has been used for centuries by European, Middle Eastern, and Far Eastern people for personal purification, health, and religious pursuits. Today, it is being used in alternative and naturopathic therapies for cancer treatment, candida and constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and to ease labor and childbirth.

Benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy for Cancer
Colonic Hydrotherapy is especially useful in treating cancer patients. Colonics improve circulatory functions, stimulate the immune system, remove toxic waste, stimulate appetite, eliminate headaches, and boost energy.
When we eat a nutritionally deficient diet, the unused waste stagnates in the colon and the body absorbs these toxins. The organs in the body responsible for purification, such as the liver, kidneys, lungs, and skin, work overtime trying to purge the waste. This can result in a variety of illnesses.
Removing carcinogenic toxins from the body and boosting the immune system are paramount during illness, especially cancer. With cancer, large tumors can break and cause necrotic areas, formed of dead tissue. Since the body expels these toxic byproducts through the colon, it’s vital to keep the colon flushed out with a cleansing colonic irrigation.
If a patient is weakened from the disease, frequent colonics help relieve the colon’s toxic burden during the patient’s healing process. But remember, colonic hydrotherapy is not a cure, nor should it be the only treatment for cancer. With a disease as serious as cancer, concurrent care under a physician is advisable.

Why Use Colonics for Cancer?
The American diet—full of processed foods, saturated fats, salt, bleached bread, additives, and artificial colors—leaves the colon clogged and stressed. Undigested food in the colon can ferment and putrefy, encouraging bacteria and toxins. Add to that a habitual lack of exercise and not drinking enough water and the result is constipation or diarrhea.
Colon Hydrotherapy releases congestion in the bowel, encourages beneficial intestinal flora, and detoxifies the body to improve overall health. After a colonic, people report feeling lighter in body and spirit, clean, clear headed, healthy, and even euphoric. Other benefits of colonics include less headaches, better mental clarity, better weight management, and relief from abdominal cramps, rheumatoid arthritis, and allergies.
The colonic procedure involves insertion of a disposable speculum connected to a hose into the rectum and the release of a solution, usually made of warm water or water and baking soda, to flush out the intestinal tract and upper bowel. The colon is flushed repeatedly to gently loosen fecal matter and flush away toxins.

Colonics for Cancer Prevention
Colonic Hydrotherapy can also be used as a preventative measure for cancers of the colon, liver, and digestive system, as well as for general health. When we normally move our bowels, we do not entirely empty the colon and material is left behind. A colonic flushes away what is left over, cleaning the body of waste and toxins that can build up and promote the growth of cancer cells.
Along with a healthy diet and exercise program, regular colonics are part of a proactive plan to ward off disease and promote well-being. A generally healthy person can undergo a colonic once every few months to maintain good health.

Home Colonic Kits
Many naturopathic companies sell home colonic kits for patients who prefer privacy but also want the benefits of a colonic. The kits typically use a sodium phosphate solution and come with pre-lubricated nozzles for gentle insertion. The bags and the tubing are disposable, or, if properly cleaned and used by a single person, can be used for several sessions. While home colonics are effective and affordable, receiving a professional colon hydrotherapy session will provide the best results. Most professional colon hydrotherapy equipment includes pressure gauges, closed water flow systems, and back flow prevention systems to provide a more comfortable experience.

Choosing Colonics Over Enemas
To achieve the most benefit, choose Colon Hydrotherapy over a simple enema. An enema is only able to cleanse the lower bowel, while a Colonic cleans the entire bowel and gastrointestinal tract. This treatment has been shown to improve the health of liver cancer patients specifically.

Colonics and Fasting
In some colon hydrotherapy treatments, before a Colonic is performed the patient fasts with no food and only liquids, such as water, fruit juice, and vegetable broth. The fasting and the Colonic are part of an overall regimen to cleanse the body and boost the immune system. Fasting assists the body in detoxifying more effectively.

Risks to Colonics
Except in the State of Florida, practitioners of Colon Hydrotherapy are not required to have a license to practice. While the FDA requires the legal sale of Colonic Irrigation systems only for medically necessary colon cleansing (such as before an endoscopic exam), it has not approved any colon cleansing system for use on patients who are well.
Any kind of medical treatment carries some risk. In rare cases, colonics performed with unsanitary materials can introduce bacteria and disease. Colonics, which soften the stool, can result in seepage from the anus, causing soiled clothes and embarrassment. Habitual overuse of colonics can cause irritation in the rectum, bleeding, infections, tears, electrolyte imbalance, and even constipation. Always seek an experienced Colon Hydrotherapist for your treatment.

Enzymes for Increasing Fertility

What are Enzymes?
Occurring in every living thing on earth, enzymes are biological molecules that catalyze (increase the rate of) chemical reactions. Almost all chemical reactions in the cell need enzymes in order to occur at rates sufficient for life. They build new proteins, cells, tissues and organs, and also tear down these same tissues.

The ability to ward off disease, repair injuries and sustain the body’s homeostasis are all connected to the concentration and strength of enzymes we have in our bodies. There are over 3,000 different types of enzymes in the human body constantly at work initiating millions of chemical reactions every second in the human body. If we did not have enzymes there would be no digestion, no blood coagulation, no reproduction, no breathing and no use of the senses. This gives you an idea of how important enzymes are for the body.

In the body there are many different types of enzymes. We have all heard about digestive enzymes, which help us to digest our food, but there are enzymes that help with all the other functions of the body as well, these are called systemic enzymes. Systemic enzymes work on the entire system.

Benefits of Systemic Enzymes
Systemic enzymes have been studied and shown to provide many benefits beneficial for healthy fertility.
Some of the beneficial actions systemic enzymes have within the body are to counteract chronic inflammation, reduce the substances in the blood that trigger an hyper-autoimmune response, break down fibrin (the substance that scars are made from) and improve blood flexibility and flow. All of these actions can help to support healthy reproductive function.

Anti-Inflammatory Effect
Systemic enzymes help to break down the substances in the blood that create inflammation and infection. This may benefit those experiencing inflammation from endometriosis by reducing the inflammation caused from the scar tissue irritating the surrounding organs and may help with the pain that sometimes comes from having endometriosis.

Regulatory Effect on the Immune System
Systemic enzymes help support the body to reduce a hyper-immune response in the body. One study has shown that they may help to prevent the rejection of the fetus (recurrent miscarriage) and help with other issues related to reproductive immunological imbalances.

Systemic enzymes have also shown to benefit autoimmune hypothyroidism – Hashimoto’s. One study noted that taking Wobenzym resulted in a reduction of autoimmune antibodies that attack the thyroid. Hypothyroidism can be a cause of infertility or recurrent miscarriages.

Breaks Down Scar Tissue
Some systemic enzymes have the ability to break down fibrin, the substance that makes up scar tissue. Scar tissue and adhesion causing fertility issues can form for a variety of reasons including uterine fibroids, pelvic surgery such as Cesarean Section, PID, damage to fallopian tubes, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, IUD, or abortion.

How systemic enzyme blends eliminate scar tissue:

The systemic enzyme blend works as a biological response modifier; working with the bodies own immune defense system to moderate inflammatory response.
They support cleansing of the tissues, promote better circulation.
They break down and remove “fibrin”, the make-up of prolonged inflammation and scar tissue/adhesion formation.
They break down the proteins in the blood that cause inflammation, this facilitates their removal via the lymphatic and circulatory system.
Reduction in inflammation , increase in proper blood formation, increase in proper circulation hinders scar tissue and adhesion formation, while reducing pain.
Improves Blood Flow

Systemic enzymes cleanse the blood, promotes circulation an stimulates the formation of new, healthy tissue.
Proteolytic enzymes improves blood flow by increasing the flexibility of red blood cells, inhibiting the aggregation of platelets, and helps to prevent abnormal blood clotting. Systemic enzymes also help to support the cleansing of the tissues and promotes better circulation as well as stimulating formation of new, healthy tissue. Simplified they make the blood less “sticky”. This is beneficial for reproductive health in many ways.
The blood cleansing actions of systemic enzymes help to bring proper circulation to the reproductive system and get the “stagnant blood” cleared out helping to remove toxins and also bringing fresh oxygenated blood to your uterus, ovaries and eggs. Imbalances which are considered stagnant are endometriosis, PCOS, heavy dark menses, ovarian cysts and uterine cysts. The fresh oxygenated, free flowing blood is also able to transport more nutrients to the eggs, supporting egg health.

Types of Systemic Enzymes and Their Actions:
The benefits mentioned above have been validated through studies done over the last 40 years on an enzyme blend containing these specific enzymes:

Bromealin: Breaks down protein and is a beneficial as an anti-inflammatory.
Chymotrypsin: Breaks down proteins, primary anti-fibroid enzyme and has a beneficial effect on the blood. It also works as a catalyst joining the actions of all the enzymes in the blend.
Pancreatin: A combination of pancreatic enzymes secreted by the pancreas. Made up of amylase, lipase and protease. These enzymes help to break down carbohydrates, regulates histamine, breaks down fats, helps reduce cholesterol, supports hormone production, bonds with alpha 2-macro-globulin to support immune function, reduces inflammation and increases circulation.
Papain: Extracted from papaya, papain breaks down protein and is most beneficial as an anti-inflammatory.
Rutin: Breaks down protein and is as beneficial as an anti-inflammatory.
Trypsin: breaks down proteins and can have beneficial effects on the blood, such as reducing the risk of blood clots.

Fertility Enzyme Therapy
Fertility Enzyme Therapy is the method of using systemic enzymes to help support reproductive health and fertility. There are many fertility issues that may be supported with the use of systemic enzymes. Plan on using them for at least 3 months or more before you begin trying to get pregnant, depending on how long the issues has been around. Here are some of the issues systemic enzymes may help with:

Endometriosis
Fertility Enzyme Therapy is one of the best and most effective natural therapies for endometriosis. Systemic enzymes may help to reduce the scar tissue and breakdown the excess tissues left from endometriosis.

Fertility Enzyme Therapy may also aid women who have endometriosis by reducing the inflammation caused from the scar tissue irritating the surrounding organs and may help with the pain that sometimes comes from having endometriosis.

The blood cleansing actions of this therapy help to bring proper circulation to the reproductive system and get the “stagnant blood” cleared out, bringing fresh oxygenated blood to your uterus and ovaries.

For this purpose it is best to start the Fertility Enzyme Therapy with The Fertility Cleanse. For endometriosis it is suggested to stay on the Fertility Enzyme Therapy for at least three months prior to trying to get pregnant so all of the stagnant tissues and scar tissues can be cleared.

Recurrent Miscarriage
For recurrent pregnancy losses caused from either immunological response or blood clotting, Fertility Enzyme Therapy is an affective option. In a five year study women who had experienced a recurrent miscarriage due to immunological response (more than 30% of miscarriages) were put on a systemic enzyme supplement before and during there pregnancies(1). 79% of the women carried out their pregnancies to term and gave birth to healthy babies. This is an amazing discovery. The only options available before this study were anti-immunological agents similar to the type used in transplant patients, but most doctors will not use them due to there toxicity during pregnancy.

The best product we have found and the product that was actually used in the study mentioned above is Wobenzym. It is the only systemic enzyme product that has been studied and used during pregnancy. You can also use this study if you would like to talk to your doctor about using this product during pregnancy.

Uterine Fibroids and Cysts
The systemic enzymes have been shown in research to reduce the engorgement (swelling and pain) of fibrocystic conditions. They also eat away at the cysts reducing their size or eliminating them over time. With uterine fibroids it is important to also make sure you are reducing your estrogen exposure and actively getting rid of excess estrogens, this can be done with the estrogen metabolizer DIM.

Using Fertility Enzyme Therapy is one of the two most important natural therapies for uterine fibroids. I have not found a more powerful way of reducing or supporting the body in eliminating uterine fibroids.

Old Scar Tissue and Blocked Fallopian Tubes
Fertility Enzyme Therapy can help to reduce the scar tissues left from surgeries like cesareans, PID, tubal reversal, abdominal surgery, etc. which may be affecting your reproductive system. Specific systemic eat away and reduces the fibrin (the material that makes up scar tissue) over time. This therapy is extremely effective at reducing scar tissues.

Scar tissue and adhesion causing fertility issues can form for a variety of reasons: uterine fibroids, pelvic surgery such as Cesarean Section, PID, damage to fallopian tubes, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, IUD, or abortion.

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
A systemic enzyme blend was studied and found to be as effective as medication at helping the body to overcome Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). PID is a general term used to describe inflammation of the uterus, ovaries, and/or fallopian tubes. PID can be cuased by parasitic, viral, fungal, but most often through bacterial infection. If left untreated PID can lead to scar tissue and adhesion formation. If PID advances to this stage it may lead to blocked fallopian tubes and sterility in women. PID often comes from Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD’s). 2/3 of women who have undergone laparascopic surgery to determine infertility cause who were found to have PID were unaware they even had PID.

A randomized double -blind study was performed on 100 women with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. One group was given 5 tablets of Wobenzym N, three times a day. The control group was given an NSAID drug in the usual dosage. Both groups were also given antibiotics (PID requires antibiotics). The patients were given the treatment for 16 or 17 days. Wobenzym N performed with amazing results in fighting damage to tissues, pain, inflammation and overall pelvic congestion. 57% of women using Wobenzyme N were without any complaints, whereas only 6% of women who took NSAIDs were without complaints. Overall, 100% of the the patients who use Wobenzyme N reported their condition as substantially improved, compared to only 73.5 % using the NSAIDs. In addition studies have shown Wobenzym N enhances the body’s response to use of antibiotic medications.

Supporting Egg Health
One of the major factors for increasing egg health is to increase the circulation to the ovaries. Fertility Enzyme Therapy can help to cleanse the blood, increase circulation and make the blood less “sticky”. For best results use the Fertility Enzyme Therapy in conjunction with the OvaWise Health Program.

How to Use Systemic Enzymes
For the best results you must take a high quality systemic enzyme that contains the specific enzymes listed in the ‘Types of Enzymes’ list. The one we feel is the best is the enzyme blend that was used in the studies mentioned through out this guide and has been studied and used for over 40 years – Wobenzym N.

“Wobenzym N is the most thoroughly researched enzyme mixture available worldwide. Wobenzym N contains five potent enzymes including pancreatin, trypsin, chymotrypsin, bromelain, and papain, as well as the bioflavanoind rutin. Wobenzym is clearly the most scientifically and clinically validated enzyme formula in the world.” -Michael Loes, M.D., M.D. (H.)

Wobenzym N combines all the beneficial delicate enzymes and is protected by a vegetable-based enteric coating which ensures optimal absorption and utilization in the blood stream.

Suggested Usage: Adults take three (3) tablets, twice daily, on an empty stomach, with water at least 45 minutes before meals and 2 hours after eating to take your enzymes.

Advanced usage: Adults may gradually increase to 12 per day by taking 3 tablets 4 times per day on an empty stomach.

Take on an empty stomach: This is very important. The enzymes need to make it past the stomach to be absorbed in the intestine. Do not take with food. Wait at least 45 minutes before eating and 2 hours after eating to take your enzymes.

Safety & Side Effects
There has been no toxicity shown from using systemic enzymes. There is no dangerous or lethal dose of systemic enzymes. These enzymes are the same enzymes the body naturally contains. Wobenzym can be used in preconception and has been shown to be helpful throughout pregnancy (see above information) with the agreement/approval of your doctor.

Stop taking systemic enzymes two weeks prior to any type of surgery. Use systemic enzymes in preparation for conception, not while you are pregnant or may be pregnant. If you are using Wobenzym for possible miscarriage prevention, please talk with your doctor and get their approval for use during pregnancy.

Use During Pregnancy
Wobenzym can be used in preconception and has been shown to be helpful throughout pregnancy to help prevent recurrent miscarriage due to immunological imbalances (see study under Recurrent Miscarriage section) with the agreement/approval of your doctor. Please consult with your doctor or midwife before using any supplements during pregnancy.

Steven Jackson Give Colonics the Big Thumbs Up!

The St. Louis Rams' Steven Jackson was a colossal bust last season for many fantasy football owners, but he will apparently try anything to not be such a stiff this year. This includes agreeing, per his girlfriend's recommendation, to have a colonic in order to "clean his system out." Not only was his girlfriend, Supriya Harris on hand for the historic poop-letting, but he also shared his experience with Yahoo's Michael Silver.

Via Undrafted Free Agent, we get the messy play-by-play:
"My hands were covered in sweat, and the (colon therapist) lady comes in and starts talking my ear off. There's this thin hose-type-thing that you put up there that shoots water into you and sucks everything out, but I had trouble getting it in, and then it kept coming out. The lady had to come back six different times and put it back in there. It was brutal."

Interjected Harris: "When we got done and he walked out to the waiting room, I said, 'Steven, are you OK?' He said, 'I don't want to talk about it.' I swear to God, he looked like a kid who'd been in there with R Kelly."

Jackson laughed at the memory and shook his head in mock disbelief. "I can't believe we're talking about this," he said. "But I will say this: Once you get it all out of you, your body feels great. You get a boost of energy, and you feel like you can accomplish anything."
Does knowing this move him up or down on Brandon Funston's Big Board?

Oral Health and HPV

Date: 09/05/2013 / Written by: Beth Levine

"I told my dentist my teeth are going yellow.  He told me to wear a brown tie." --Rodney Dangerfield

Practicing good dental hygiene is important to maintain those pearly whites and prevent tooth loss and gum disease.  But oral health goes beyond cosmetic appearance and the health of the mouth alone.  The oral cavity has been shown to have an influence on disease in other parts of the body, and now the latest research has found that those with dental health issues are at higher risk for developing an oral infection with the human papilloma virus (HPV) and subsequent oral cancer.

The study, which took place at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston, determined that problems of the teeth and/or gums may be a factor in the likelihood of acquiring HPV of the oral cavity as well as various types of oral cancer.1  The subjects were more than 3,400 adults ranging in age from 30 to 69 who had participated in the 2009-2010 National Health and Nutrition Examination.  Each of them was asked to provide information on several aspects of their health, which included questions about their dental well-being and whether they were positive for HPV.  The results showed that those volunteers who deemed their oral health poor were 56 percent more likely to have an HPV infection compared to their peers with good oral health.

While it has long been established that HPV causes such sexually transmitted diseases as genital warts and can be responsible for cervical cancer, it was linked with oral cancers much more recently.  There are estimated to be approximately 8,400 new diagnoses of HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer in the United States annually, with about three-quarters of these occurring in men.2  A major contributing risk factor for developing oropharyngeal cancers is the use of tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars, and chewing tobacco.  However, in 2011 a study at Ohio State University in Columbus, found that in the U.S., at least, HPV is now the primary cause of oropharyngeal cancers, responsible for 64 percent of the cases diagnosed, and the reason the number of cases is growing.3

So how do we end up with oral HPV infections?  As you might expect, they are transmitted via mouth to genitals sexual contact with an infected person, ala Michael Douglas.  But a 2009 study at Ohio State University in Columbus showed that even kissing with an open mouth was associated with an increase in oral HPV risk.4  With the large number of people already infected and steadily growing, it may be difficult for a sexually active adult to find a partner that is infection-free.  And, while testing exists for both cervical and anal HPV, there is not yet a standard clinical test used to detect oral HPV.

Since good oral hygiene appears to be a valuable way to lessen the odds of an infection taking hold, it may well be beneficial to step up your dental regimen a notch or two from simply brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing once a day, and going to the dentist on a regular basis to maintain healthy teeth and gums.  Consider adding oil pulling, one of the most popular natural health remedies, to the routine each morning as well.  For those unfamiliar, this is a technique that has been around for centuries.  It involves using a tablespoon of sesame or sunflower oil (possibly with a touch of added tea tree oil and limonene oil) to thoroughly swish throughout your mouth for a total of 20 minutes.  Oil pulling should be performed first thing in the morning before you consume any food or drinks.  It works by killing harmful bacteria that cause infections and gum disease.  For a much more detailed look at oil pulling, read Jon Barron's article Oil Pulling For Detoxing?

Supplementing a balanced diet with proteolytic enzymes also can benefit oral as well as overall health.  When taken between meals, a quality formula will make its way into your bloodstream and ultimately your saliva, where it can help break down dental plaque, a primary factor in compromised oral health.

Top 5 Milk Substitutes

It’s becoming obvious that the milk supply is not what it used to be 50 years ago. The days where you could easily get clean, fresh, unpasteurized dairy are long gone, which has put many people in gastric distress and in a frantic search to replace their conventional dairy fix. Fortunately, there are many milk substitutes to replace conventionally produced dairy.

Almond Milk
Almond Milk Recipe 2

Almond milk has long been a traditional favorite for those avoiding conventional dairy, and is probably the most popular choice due to its taste and texture.

Almonds are rich in protein, fiber, healthy fats, vitamin E, calcium, manganese, and magnesium.

When preparing almond milk, it’s important to source raw, organic almonds as conventionally grown ones are irradiated and pasteurized. Also make sure to soak them for at least 6 hours prior to making your almond milk, to ensure you remove enzyme inhibitors, which will help facilitate proper digestion.

Prepare almond milk by adding 1 cup of almonds to the blender, 4 cups of filtered water, and blend. Strain crude mixture through a nut milk bag and you’re done!

Get a complete almond milk recipe here.

Coconut Milk
Another easy to make milk substitute is coconut milk.

Using the soft meat of a young green coconut, you can expect to take in various nutrients including a healthy dose of saturated fats, enzymes, and caprylic and lauric acid, which are antibacterial and immune system builders.

Preparing coconut milk is very easy. Simply add young coconut meat to blender, cover with filtered water, and blend. Add more meat or water to achieve desired consistency.

Hemp Milk
A less popular milk that offers different benefits is hemp milk.

Hemp contains a very high quality amino acid composition and protein structure, with the latter positively affecting digestibility and utilization by the human body. It is also a perfectly balanced source of essential fatty acids (EFA’s), making it one of the very few plant based complete protein sources.

Hemp milk is very easy to make. Simply add a half-cup of hemp seed to a blender, add 4 cups of filtered water, and blend. Strain through a nut milk bag, and it’s ready to consume.

Raw Cow’s Milk
cows cup of milk

Cow’s milk has taken a turn for the worst over the past 50 years. Once an unadulterated and health promoting beverage, it has now become contaminated, treated, and left devoid of any life promoting nutrients.

Although it is difficult to find, and outlawed in many states, raw milk is an excellent choice to those would like to continue to consume traditional dairy.

Raw milk is a living food due to the fact it is not pasteurized, which makes it rich in beneficial bacteria, enzymes, and natural vitamins. This also makes it much easier to digest, often minimizing problems for those with milk allergies.

Raw Goat’s Milk
Like raw cow’s milk, goat’s milk is unpasteurized and teeming with beneficial probiotics, enzymes and nutrients.

Goat’s milk is often known to be naturally anti-inflammatory (and often noted as much more alkaline than cow’s milk), easier to digest (closer to human mothers milk), higher in fatty acids, and less mucus forming than cow’s milk.

Whatever substitute you choose to replace your conventionally produced dairy, know that you are doing your digestive system a favor by eliminating contaminated, dead, and immune suppressing milk with clean, alive, and immune supporting alternatives.

Now go milk it for all it’s worth.

Daily Habits that Cause Cancer

Wednesday, September 04, 2013 by: Derek Henry

By now, you may have heard that cancer rates are rising to a point where 44% of men and 39% of women will be diagnosed with the disease. With all the research and drugs being created over the past 30 years, you would think that it would at least be holding steady or declining, but, sadly, that is not the case. So what common patterns are we encountering for these rates to be rising so precipitously throughout North America?

Everyday factors contributing to the rise of cancer
There is a commonly held notion that 'everything' causes cancer nowadays, and although it may often be a flippant response from someone who is frustrated by all the things they need to avoid, it is becoming glaringly obvious that a wide variety of our core activities are indeed contributing to cancer growth.

Behold, a shortened list of these cancer causing factors:
- X-rays
- Sunlight ultraviolet rays
- EMF exposure
- Ionizing, microwave oven, and nonionizing radiation from domestic appliances
- Overhead power lines
- Nuclear radiation
- Pesticides and herbicides
- Industrial toxins
- Drinking or bathing in polluted, chlorinated, or fluoridated water
- Smoking
- Hormonal therapies
- Immune suppressive drugs
- Consuming irradiated foods and food additives
- Mercury toxicity
- Dental fillings, root canals, cavitations and metals
- Use of street, prescription and non-prescription drugs
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Consumption of synthetic 'foods'
- Chronic stress
- Negative emotions
- Depressed thyroid
- Intestinal toxicity
- Parasites
- Viral, bacterial, and fungal infections
- Blocked detoxification pathways
- Genetic predisposition
- Physical irritants (e.g. asbestos)
- Alcohol consumption

One can see from reading the list that many of us are currently, or have extensively in the past, engaged or had many of these challenges.

The only way to halt these scary cancer statistics is to be aware of the factors contributing to cancer, avoid them at all costs and engage in a clean and nourishing lifestyle that does not promote its growth.

What can we do to put the odds more in our favour?

First of all, eat a clean, alkaline diet full of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and probiotics on a daily basis that supports the development of a healthy immune system. Examples of such foods include:
- Algae (e.g. chlorella, spirulina)
- Fermented foods (vegetables, kefirs)
- Medicinal mushrooms like reishi and chaga
- Adaptogenic herbs like astragulus, gynostemma, siberian ginseng, goji
- Aloe vera
- Hemp
- Garlic
- Kale
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower
- Watercress
- Cilantro
- Berries
- Pomegranates

Also look to consume pure water, get fresh air, expose yourself to the sunshine for 15-20 minutes a day (don't expose your skin to the point of burning), exercise and consider colonics and coffee enemas.

In contrast, you need to limit or avoid dairy, sugar, grains and animal protein, which are all hard on digestion and the immune system.

This is certainly not an exhaustive list, as entire books are catered to cancer therapies and how to avoid cancer altogether. The core theme in all of them is to:
- Avoid all impurities in food, air and water
- Cleanse your body with alkaline, easily digestible and nutrient rich foods (including necessary whole food supplementation)
- Begin a protocol of liver cleansing and regenerating herbs

Even though it won't be easy, the trends can be reversed. We just need to recognize the power of the body to heal itself when it is given the right medicine and carry out those actions on a consistent basis.

Are You Pooping Wrong?

By Jaimie Dalessio

Our ancestors did it. People in Asia, Africa, and some parts of Europe still do it. So how did we Westerners end up deviating from the best way to go No. 2?

Blame it on toilets as we know them. Thrones, they have been called. Turns out we should squat, not sit.

In a 2003 study, 28 healthy people volunteered to time themselves doing their business in three alternate positions: sitting on a standard toilet, sitting on a low toilet, and squatting. They not only recorded how long it took them, but also how much effort it took. Squatting, the study concluded, takes less time and effort.

"There is definitely some physiologic sense to squatting," says gastroenterologist Anish Sheth, MD, co-author of the books What's Your Poo Telling You? and What's My Pee Telling Me? "Simply put, it straightens out the colon."

When we're standing, the colon (where waste is stored) gets pushed up against the puborecatlis muscle, which keeps fecal continence until it's time to hit the bathroom. Sitting down only partially relaxes that muscle. Squatting fully relaxes it, essentially straightening out the colon. That, in turn, eases the elimination pooping process.

Experts have argued that digestive illnesses like colitis, constipation, and hemorrhoids stem from all the sitting and straining people do on the toilet. Studies have shown, for example, that the more time you spend in the bathroom, specifically reading, the more likely you are to develop hemorrhoids, or swollen blood vessels in and around the anus. Some doctors even recommend patients try squatting to deal with their colon issues.

Squatting toilets are used throughout the world today. In Asia, public restrooms might offer two stalls with Western porcelain flush toilets, and two stalls with squat toilets in which the user plants their feet over an opening in the floor and squats. "Turkish" toilets can be found elsewhere, including Japan, Russia, and France.

While Sheth doesn't now advise his patients to try squatting, "I probably should," he says. "I guess until now there wasn't a safe way."

Sheth was referring to SquattyPotty, a product released last fall that looks like a step stool. Users place their feet on it while sitting on the toilet, enabling a 35-degree angle squat.

What to Eat for Fab Abs!

AUGUST 28, 2013 BY JULIE

At my CrossFit gym, everyone wants to know how to get fab abs.

Even though CrossFit makes us do thousands of GHD sit-ups, crunches, planks, single-armed overhead squats and other ab-strengthening exercises, most athletes can feel how strong their core is, but they can’t see any definition.

Melissa, one of the best CrossFitter’s at my gym who has rock-hard abs that you can see and feel reminds everyone, “Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym!”

That’s because the only way to see your abs is to get your body fat down so there’s not so much body fat covering up your hard work.

There’s more than cosmetic reasons to care about your middle: Carrying extra fat around your middle is harmful to your health. Period. Whether you’re sporting a muffin top or a full on Homer Simpson, it’s a sign that you have too much deeply deposited fat in your abdomen. This type of deep belly fat, (called visceral fat, central fat, or intra-abdominal fat) is liked to diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, high blood pressure and insulin resistance.

However, some new studies show that eating fewer nutrient-poor carbohydrates (read: candy, soda, baked goods) helps target ab fat better than regular low-fat diet. Could fewer carbs= less ab fat? Research Says….Maybe

A recent study presented at the Endocrine Society’s annual meeting, Barbara Gower, Ph.D., from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, revealed results from her study which included 69 overweight men and women who were put on a weight maintenance diet for eight weeks and then a weight reduction diet for eight weeks. The two different diet interventions tested were a typical US diet (comprised of 55% calories from carbs, 27% fat and 18% protein) versus a diet that provided 43% of calories form carbs, 39% from fat and 18% from protein.

The diets were matched for each subjects’ caloric intake to assure no weight loss during the first phase of the study. In the second phase, each subject’s diet was reduced by 1,000 calories a day and all food was provided during the total duration of the study. The researchers used the most advanced body composition scans, called DEXA, to monitor the total body fat of the subjects before and after each diet trial.

Results? After the weight maintenance phase, subjects who consumed the moderately carb-restricted diet had 11 percent less deep belly women mesuring absfat compared to those who at the more traditional carb-rich diet.

Is there an Ab-Blasting Diet?
Despite all the “Abs Diet” books and special ab-flattening exercises, any weight loss will result in losing belly fat because abdominal fat is readily mobilized when you reduce your calories lower than what you burn off (read: lose weight). In fact, a modest reduction in body weight can lead to significant reductions in belly fat.

Other human clinical trials have also found results consistent with the UAB researchers: Diets that are lower in carbohydrates and higher in protein and fat (40% calories from carbs, 30% from fat and 30% from protein) may help reduce visceral fat better than typical high-carb diets.

The best places to change your diet to reduce ab fat is to eat less added sugars, saturated fats and refined grains—as all are linked with excessive abdominal fat. Eat a diet rich in fruits, veggies, whole grains and get daily physical activity. Abdominal exercises will strengthen your muscles, but won’t do much—if anything—to lose the fat that’s blanketing them.

What’s a Healthy Waist?
Women with waists 35 inches or more and men whose waists are 40 inches or greater are at the greatest risk for health problems related to excess visceral fat. Even if your waist is several inches smaller than those benchmarks, it’s best to try to keep your waist from creeping up during your adult life. But for women who have sleek, visible ab muscles, their waist circumference measurements are generally below 30 inches.

Get our your tape measure, record your waist measurement and make a plan to check it every month for the next three months and try the diet changes outlined above. For inspiration…pull out a pair of “skinny” jeans from your closet and keep them where you can see them for added waist-management motivation!

Fast Food Workers Demand Living Wage

Wednesday, August 28, 2013 by Mike Adams

A series of rolling fast food "walkout" strikes makes it way to the South this Thursday, August 29th. Thousands of workers from Dallas, Houston, Austin, Memphis, Tampa and over a dozen other cities are planning to walk off their jobs to protest the fact that they aren't being paid $15 / hour to serve GMOs, high-fructose corn syrup, soybean-assisted "meat" burgers and aspartame to their customers.

Yet I say it's a call for a nationwide celebration! And the only thing better than fast food workers walking off their jobs for a day would be fast food workers walking off their jobs forever.

Consider the irony of all this for just a moment: Fast food workers demand to be paid a "living wage" to serve food that's killing everybody. It's not even debated anymore that the very foods served at fast food restaurants -- high in processed salt, chemical additives, fried fats, refined sugars, MSG, acrylamides, aspartame and GMOs -- are the primary culprits behind our nation's growing epidemic of chronic disease: cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer's and more. The average fast food meal contains over 100 chemicals, many of which are known to cause cancer and other diseases. Almost nothing served by fast food establishments is considered "nutritious."

So any day that the fast food industry is shut down is a good day for the health of all Americans. In fact, I'm calling this Thursday a national holiday: The "National Health Food Day" where everybody gets a mandatory break from all the toxins they'd normally shove down their throats while expecting Obamacare to pay all the costs of the diseases they acquire as a result.

Have you seen what the Natural News Forensic Food Lab found in Chicken McNuggets? Strange fibers, weird hair-like structures, bizarre colorants and more. This is fast food, folks. And the word "food" almost doesn't belong in the phrase.

Fast food workers need more money to pay all their sick-care costs

Only in America do people demand university graduate-level wages to serve up chemically-altered fake food that causes the very diseases which raise the costs of health insurance that force fast food companies to slash hours and cut jobs in the first place.

Talk about an insane spiral of self-destruction...

Remarkably, the point of view of the low-income class of workers who are behind all this is merely that they are not being paid enough to poison the population with foods that cause disease. Apparently if they were all paid $15 / hour, then everything would be okay. Heck, at that rate they all might even be able to afford the chemotherapy treatments and diabetes drugs they'll all eventually need to treat all the disease symptoms caused by eating their own product.

And as long as fast food workers are being paid $15 / hour, I think cancer center chemotherapy poison technicians should be paid $50 / hour. Hospital workers should get $75 / hour and funeral home workers should bring home $100 / hour. It's America's new sick-care economy! And it's all been captured right here in my CounterThink cartoon called Business is Booming!

We need nutritious food, not fast food

When fast food workers demand a "living wage" to keep serving food that's killing everybody, you have to shake your head in realizing the irony of it all. Ultimately what everybody wants is some sort of quality of life, right? Well you're never going to get quality of life if you're eating your way to cancer, diabetes and heart disease. And that's what the fast food menus really serve up, after all: short-term taste entertainment in your mouth followed by long-term health damage, disease, hospitalization and death.

Alas, low-income fast food workers are probably not sophisticated enough to understand how they are being used as pawns in a vast global scheme to spread disease and turn hungry customers into profitable sick-care patients that enrich hospitals, drug companies, health insurance conglomerates and cancer clinics.

If all the diseases caused by fast food were caused by a virus instead, the CDC would declare it a level-5 pandemic. But because it's being caused by junk foods that uninformed consumers keep voluntarily shoveling down their threats, this origin of disease remains utterly ignored by the CDC, FDA and USDA alike.

Demanding wages, not health

My last point on all this is how astonished I am that the political left is so strongly pushing for "living wages" but completely ignores the concept of "living foods."

What good is it that low-income families bring home $15 / hour if all that money goes to pay cancer clinics, dialysis centers and diabetes drugs?

The answer to this is not to vote for some politician who promises you free health care -- because nothing is ever really free -- but to reform the food culture so that people are eating foods that sustain life rather than causing disease and death.

Where are the marches for living foods? Where is the "March For Nutrition" for low-income Americans? The USDA's food stamp program ("SNAP") is most commonly used to buy and consume toxic processed foods containing virtually no real nutrition.

As L.A.'s "guerrilla gardener" Ron Finley says, "Funny thing is, the drive-thrus are killin' more people than the drive-bys. People are dying from curable diseases in South Central LA."

What's he's saying -- and he's right about it -- is that fast food kills more people than all the gang violence combined. In fact, it kills more people than terrorism. More people than natural disasters. More people than wars. Our culture of fast food is a culture of death. And if the only thing people can see wrong with the system is that workers aren't being paid enough to keep killing everybody with toxic foods, then there's something fundamentally, profoundly wrong with our society's lack of recognition about the real sources of our problems.

What if, instead of paying fast food workers $15 / hour to serve toxic foods, we paid them $15 / hour to grow sprouts or make superfood smoothies? How would our society change if customers demanded healthy, nutritious foods instead of toxic, chemically-altered processed factory foods? My assertion is that we'd all be healthier and wealthier as a result because the current 25% of GDP that goes to cover sickness and disease in America could be redirected to something far more useful.

Fast food destroys societies

I'll go one step further here and suggest that fast food actually destroys societies. In every nation around the world where America's fast food chains set up shop, you immediately see multi-cultural changes that ripple through society, destroying the things that really matter in life:

• A sharp drop in nutritional value of foods commonly consumed
• A drop in wages offered to low-income workers
• An increase in trash and environmental pollution
• An increase in the chemical burden of consumers who eat the fast food
• An eventual increase in disease rates, hospitalizations and health care costs
• A worsening of agricultural practices to provide low-cost materials to the fast food industry. Ultimately, farming practices are made less sustainable

This is all set in motion by fast food, an industry that offers nothing of lasting value to society and only exploits its customers for corporate profit.

So please, everyone, walk off the job this Thursday if you work at a fast food restaurant. But don't make the mistake of returning to work on Friday. Quit your job and stop being used as a pawn in the global scheme to keep everybody diseased for profit.

Because fast food, when it comes down to it, is actually slow death.
