How About a Little Bone and Nerves with your Chicken Nuggets

Chicken Nuggets
A recent study found chicken nuggets are less than 50 percent chicken.
If you want a glimpse of what fast food is really like, just let it cool down. I learned that when I was in college. Rushing from one class to the other, I sometimes grabbed something to eat from the nearby McDonald’s. One time, I ordered, parked my car outside the classroom, and had time to eat only half before I had to run inside or risk being late with a particularly stern professor. When I came back out an encountered the lard-like cold fries and hockey puck hamburger…ugh! Let’s just say I cured my fast food cravings right then.
There’s another way to determine what you’re really eating when you go through the drive through—send it to a lab. That’s what happened recently in Mississippi. Researchers decided to put chicken nuggets from two unnamed fast food chains under the microscope. What did they find?
“I was floored,” Dr. Richard deShazo stated. “I had read what other reports have said is in them and I didn’t believe it. I was astonished actually seeing it under the microscope.”
What the Study Found
To determine the composition of chicken nuggets, researchers gathered randomly selected ones from two different national food chains in Jackson, Mississippi. They then took one nugget from each box for a total of two, and preserved, sectioned and stained them for microscopic analysis.
Results showed:
The first nugget was about half muscle—the rest was a mix of fat, blood vessels and nerves
Closer inspection of the first one showed cells that line the skin of the internal organs
The second nugget was only 40 percent muscle—the rest was fat, cartilage, and pieces of bone
Overall, chicken meat was not the main component of either nugget—fat was present in equal or greater quantities, along with epithelium, bone, nerve, and connective tissue
What’s Going On?
According to the researchers, companies have chosen to use an artificial mixture of chicken parts to make the nuggets. Rather than actually frying up low-fat chicken, they’re using what is essentially a chicken by-product that’s high in calories, salt, sugar, and fat, and calling it real chicken.
“My concern is that these constitute a large part of people’s diets,” said deShazo. He acknowledged that the sample size in this study was particularly small, and that some chains have started to use primarily white meat in their nuggets—just not the ones they tested. But still, the worry is that people are eating them too often—particularly children.
“Even worse,” he said, “it tastes great and kids love it and it is marketed to them.”
Not the First Study
This wasn’t the first study to raise the “ick” factor of fast food chicken nuggets. Just a couple months ago, in August 2013, Mike Adams of Natural News reported on an investigation conducted by the Natural News Forensic Food Laboratory on McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets. Mike bought 10 pieces from a McDonald’s in Austin, Texas, and then examined them under a high-powered digital microscope.
“I’ve seen a lot of weird stuff in my decade of investigation foods and nutrition,” he wrote, “but I never expected to find this….”
Mike found strange fibers and dark black hair-like structures, as well as “light blue egg-shaped structures with attached tail-like hairs or fibers.” He didn’t identify these structures, but suggested the FDA take a closer look.
Back in 2010, Consumer Reports put chicken nuggets to the test and found most brands were loaded with salt and fat. After evaluating 14 supermarket brands of refrigerated and frozen ones, including two made from soy, they noted that choosing a healthier nugget would mean sacrificing flavor.
In 2012, a study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal found that American fast-food customers get a larger dose of sodium when eating fast food items like chicken nuggets than do their counterparts in other countries—even for the exact same items. After analyzing nutrition information for more than 2,000 items sold by the world’s largest fast-food chains, they found fast food tended to be saltier in the U.S. than in Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand, and the U.K.
All this on top of the studies in 2012 that showed poultry on factory farms were often fed caffeine, active ingredients in Tylenol and Benadryl, banned antibiotics, and even arsenic.
The researchers in the Mississippi study didn’t go so far as to say you should avoid chicken nuggets. We’ll leave that up to you. If you’re on the fence, I say, just let them cool off a bit.

The truth about juicing & which juicer is best

Juicing is the best way to quickly extract massive amounts of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and phytonutrients from fruits vegetables and get them into your body. Which is why I drank 8 glasses of veggie juice (mostly carrot) every day for several years as part of my anti-cancer diet. Some natural survivors I know drank 5 juices per day. Cancer patients on the Gerson Therapy drink 12-13 juices per day. So what’s the takeaway? Drink lots of fresh juice! Even just 1-2 glasses per day will do you a ton of good.
Now there are a lot of opinions out there about juicing. Most of these opinions are formed by information that did not come from independent research, but from juicer manufacturers who want to convince you to buy their particular juicer because it produces “the best tasting, highest quality, most nutritious juice”. This marketing influences “expert” opinions who in turn influence us. Trustworthy people are sometimes mislead by wrong information.
What started out as a simple message about juicing for health has in recent years evolved into a strict set of “juicing rules” that people are obsessing about. So much so, that some people stop juicing (or never start) because they’ve been told that any juicer other than the $2,400 Norwalk Juicer is inadequate and not producing nutritious juice. (The Gerson Institute is partially to blame for this)
So before I get into comparing specific juicer models, I want to address a few popular misconceptions about juicing:
“Juice must be consumed immediately or it loses all its nutritional value”
Listen to your instincts and use your rational mind here. Do you really think that’s true?
I made a big 64 oz batch of juice every morning and drank it throughout the day for two years as part of my anti-cancer routine. The only juice I drank “fresh” was the first juice of the day. And I know lots of people who have healed cancer that also made juice in batches like this. So the empirical and anecdotal evidence says, “No.”
But most importantly, there is scientific research that backs this up. Enzyme activity is one of the best ways to measure nutritional degradation in juice over time. And as it turns out, the enzyme activity in juice from many different types of juicing machines actually remains very high for several days after juicing.
Tip: Organic carrots have twice the amylase enzyme activity as conventional carrots. Another reason why organic produce is best, if you can get it.
“High-speed juicing creates heat that destroys the nutrients in juice”
Also not true. For the same reasons mentioned above. Enzyme activity is high in juices from all different types of juicing machines, some are a little higher than others. I used a high speed masticating juicer and I know lots of natural survivors who used high-speed and centrifugal juicers. Centrifugal juicers do tend to oxidize the juice a bit more, but this really only affects how long the juice will keep. If you are drinking it the same day it really doesn’t matter.
*If you are storing juice to drink later in the day, the best practice is to use air tight glass bottles or mason jars, leaving as little air as possible at the top, and keep it in the fridge.
I’m sure some natural health enthusiasts will be shocked by these claims, but before you attack the keyboard to argue with me, see this unbiased analysis conducted by Michael Donaldson PhD at the Hallelujah Acres Foundation.
“Can you make juice with a Vitamix, Blendtec, Nutribullet, etc.”
No. Blenders make blenderized juice, aka smoothies. They do not extract the juice from the pulp. Extracted juice goes right into your bloodstream and requires very little digestive energy, which is why it is so good for cancer patients.
“What about store bought juice?”
It’s not fresh and has usually been pasteurized, which does destroy nutrients, and it may be oxidized as well. So it’s really not an acceptable substitute. If you are buying fresh unpasteurized juice from a local smoothie bar made within a day or so, that’s fine.
“Chris what juicer do you recommend? What is the best juicer?”
Here’s the deal. I’ve used all kinds of juicers over the years and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that there is no “best juicer”. There are a lot of different juicers out there and guess what, they all make juice. Some make a little more juice than others, some do better with carrots, others do better with leafy greens, some are easier to clean, and some are more durable and last a long time. But as my friend “The Juice Lady” Cherie Calbom says:
“The best juicer is… the one you will use!” 
If you have cancer and are about to start a hardcore every day juicing protocol, it makes sense to invest in a nicer juicer. If you are juicing casually, it may not. So here are some comparisons that should help you make up your mind.

The Champion Juicer

The Champion Commercial Juicer ($299) is first on the list because it’s my favorite. Why? Well we spent a lot of time together in my healing journey, so it has a special little place in my heart. On the practical side, it extracts a lot of juice, it’s fast, it’s easy to clean up, and it’s built to last. Plus it’s made in the USA with a 10 year warranty. It meets all the criteria of a great juicer. Our Champion has been in our kitchen working like a “champ” since 2004 and get this, a friend recently told me that her mom has had one for 28 years! One more thing about the Champion. You can feed the pulp back through multiple times and it will extract even more juice.
The Omega J8006 ($265) is also a great juicer, comparable to the Champion. If you are using one now, there’s no need to change.
I also have a Green Star Juicer ($465). It’s the one on the right in the first picture. It is an excellent juicer, but it is bigger, slower and has more parts to clean, so it’s currently living in the attic until my Champion dies.
If you want to extract the maximum amount of juice humanly possible, you can use the Champion as a grinder and then press the juice out with the Peoples Juice Press ($399). This two step process will give you 50% more juice than a Champion or a Green Star/Green Life juicer, and even outperforms the $2,400 Norwalk juicer, extracting 2 oz more juice per pound of carrots, and producing juice with the highest enzyme activity, while saving you $1,700 bucks that you can put toward a Berkey Water Filter, a Vitamix, and lots of organic fruits and veggies. So that’s the ultimate juicing rig.

Let’s compare two of the most popular lower priced juicers…

Breville Juice Fountain Plus

My Dad has a Breville Juice Fountain Plus ($150). He started out with the $450 Green Star juicer (that’s now in my attic), but it took too long to clean. So he replaced it with a Champion, which he really liked and used for many years. Then he got a wild hair and bought a Breville, and decided he liked it better than the Champion because it was even easier to clean. He’s a casual juicer and clearly clean up time is his most important feature. I’ve used the Breville and I like it too. It’s fast, easy to use and definitely easy to clean. It has a two speed motor and a large 3″ feeding tube, which is great, but it only comes with a 1 year warranty. That’s a bit disappointing.

L’Equip XL Juicer

Based on hundreds of ratings and reviews on various sites, I think the best inexpensive juicer is the
L’Equip XL Juicer ($119). It has a stainless steel bowl, blade and basket, and just like the Breville Juice Fountain Plus it’s fast, easy to use, easy to clean up, has a 3″ feeding tube, and takes up very little counter space. But it’s $30 bucks cheaper and comes with a 6 year warranty, which is really terrific. So that puts it over the top. If you can’t afford a $300 juicer right now, I think this would be a great one to start with.
“Which juicer is best for greens?”
Greens are hard to juice because they don’t have much juice in them. This is why most juicers just don’t juice greens very well. A pound of spinach gets you like a squirt of juice. Every time I tried to juice greens I always felt like I was wasting them, years ago I decided to just eat greens whole or blend them up in smoothies in my Vitamix.
“What do you think about the (insert juicer name here)?”
What do you think about it? If you have one and like it, then keeping using it. I’ve used other juicers, which I chose not to mention in this post, because I think the juicers above really are the best in their respective prices ranges, and I didn’t want to overwhelm you comparing the subtle pros and cons of dozens of juicers. So there you go. Now you have my opinion, but when in doubt, remember what Cherie Calbom says,
“The best juicer is the one you will use!”

15 Shocking Symptoms of HIV


Within a month or two of HIV entering the body, 40% to 90% of people experience flulike symptoms known as acute retroviral syndrome (ARS).
But sometimes HIV symptoms don’t appear for years, sometimes even a decade, after infection.
“In the early stages of HIV infection, the most common symptoms are none,” says Michael Horberg, MD, director of HIV/AIDS for Kaiser Permanente, in Oakland, Calif. One in five people in the United States with HIV doesn’t know they have it, which is why it’s so important to get tested, especially if you have unprotected sex with more than one partner or use intravenous drugs.
Here are some signs that you may be HIV-positive.

Fever
One of the first signs of ARS can be a mild fever, up to about 102 degrees F. The fever, if it occurs at all, is often accompanied by other usually mild symptoms, such as fatigue, swollen lymph glands, and a sore throat.
“At this point the virus is moving into the blood stream and starting to replicate in large numbers,” says Carlos Malvestutto, MD, instructor of infectious diseases and immunology in the department of medicine at NYU School of Medicine in New York City. “As that happens, there is an inflammatory reaction by the immune system.”

Fatigue
The inflammatory response generated by your besieged immune system also can cause you to feel tired and lethargic. Fatigue can be both an early and later sign of HIV.

Ron, 54, a public relations executive in the Midwest, started to worry about his health when he suddenly got winded just walking. “Everything I did, I got out of breath,” he says. “Before that I had been walking three miles a day.”

Ron had tested HIV positive 25 years before feeling so tired; fatigue during acute, or newly contracted, HIV might not be so obvious.

Achy Muscles & Joint Pain
ARS is often mistaken for the flu, mononucleosis, or another viral infection, even syphilis or hepatitis.

That’s not surprising: Many of the symptoms are the same, including pain in the joints and muscles and swollen lymph glands.

Lymph nodes are part of your body’s immune system and tend to get inflamed when there’s an infection. Many of them are located in your armpit, groin, and neck.

Sore Throat & Headache
As with other symptoms, sore throat and headache can often be recognized as ARS only in context, Dr. Horberg says.

If you’ve engaged recently in high-risk behavior, an HIV test is a good idea. Get tested for your own sake and for others: HIV is most infectious in the earliest stage.

Keep in mind that the body hasn’t produced antibodies to HIV yet so an antibody test may not pick it up. (It can take a few weeks to a few monthsfor HIV antibodies to show in a blood test). Investigate other test options such as one that detects viral RNA, typically within nine days of infection.

Skin Rashes
Skin rashes can occur early or late in the course of HIV/AIDS.

For Ron, this was another sign that he might not have run-of-the-mill allergies or a cold.

”They were like boils, with some itchy pink areas on my arms,” Ron says. The rashes can also appear on the trunk of the body. “If [the rashes] aren’t easily explained or easily treated, you should think about having an HIV test,” Dr. Horberg says.
Nausea, Vomiting & Diarrhea

Anywhere from 30% to 60% of people have short-term nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea in the early stages of HIV, Dr. Malvestutto says.

These symptoms can also appear as a result of antiretroviral therapy and later in the infection, usually as the result of an opportunistic infection.

”Diarrhea that is unremitting and not responding at all to usual therapy might be an indication,” Dr. Horberg says. Or symptoms may be caused by an organism not usually seen in people with healthy immune systems, he adds.

Weight Loss
Once called “AIDS wasting,” weight loss is a sign of more advanced illness and could be due in part to severe diarrhea.

”If you’re already losing weight, that means the immune system is usually fairly depleted,” Dr. Malvestutto says. “This is the patient who has lost a lot of weight even if they continue to eat as much as possible. This is late presentation. We still see a lot of these.” It has become less common, however, thanks to antiretroviral therapy.
A person is considered to have wasting syndrome if they lose 10% or more of their body weight and have had diarrhea or weakness and fever for more than 30 days, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Dry Cough
Have a bad cough that Benadryl, antibiotics, and inhalers don’t seem to fix? 

This symptom—an “insidious cough that could be going on for weeks that doesn’t seem to resolve,” Dr. Malvestutto says—is typical in very ill HIV patients.

Night Sweats
About half of people get night sweats during the early stages of HIV infection, Dr. Malvestutto says.

These can be even more common later in infection and aren’t related to exercise or the temperature of the room.

 Similar to the hot flashes that menopausal women suffer, they’re also hard to dismiss, given that they soak your bedclothes and sheets.

Nail Changes
Another sign of late HIV infection are nail changes, such as clubbing (thickening and curving of the nails), splitting of the nails, or discoloration (black or brown lines going either vertically or horizontally).

Often this is due to a fungal infection, such as candida. “Patients with depleted immune systems will be more susceptible to fungal infections,” Dr. Malvestutto says.

Yeast Infections
Another fungal infection that’s common in later stages is thrush, a mouth infection caused by Candida, a type of yeast.

”It’s a very common fungus and the one that causes yeast infections in women,” Dr. Malvestutto says. “They tend to appear in the mouth or esophagus, making it difficult to swallow.”

Ron woke up one day to find white patches on his tongue. He had thrush. For him, “It was not bothersome other than I didn’t like having it.” The infection was hard to get rid of, but finally cleared up after Ron started taking drugs to combat HIV.

Confusion or Difficulty Concentrating
Cognitive problems could be a sign of HIV-related dementia, which usually occurs late in the course of the disease.

In addition to confusion and difficulty concentrating, AIDS-related dementia might also involve memory problems and behavioral issues such as anger or irritability.

It may even include motor changes: becoming clumsy, lack of coordination, and problems with tasks requiring fine motor skills such as writing by hand.

Cold Sores or Genital Herpes
Cold sores (oral herpes) and genital herpes can be a sign of both ARS and late-stage HIV infection.

 Having herpes can also be a risk factor for contracting HIV. This is because genital herpes can cause ulcers that make it easier for HIV to enter the body during sex. And people who have HIV tend to have more severe herpes outbreaks more often because HIV weakens the immune system.

Tingling & Weakness
Late HIV can also cause numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. This is called peripheral neuropathy, which also occurs in people with uncontrolled diabetes.

”This is when the nerves are actually damaged,” Dr. Malvestutto says. These symptoms can be treated with over-the-counter pain relievers and antiseizure medicines such as Neurontin (gabapentin).

Menstrual Irregularities
Advanced HIV disease appears to increase the risk of having menstrual irregularities, such as fewer and lighter periods.

These changes, however, probably have more to do with the weight loss and poor health of women with late-stage infection rather than the infection itself.

Infection with HIV also has been associated with earlier age of menopause (47 to 48 years for infected women compared to 49 to 51 years for uninfected women).

Uterine Fibroids: Preventing, Shrinking & Avoiding Surgery



Most women with fibroids suffer severe discomfort, distended bellies, pain, and excessive bleeding. And the proposal of surgery by most of their doctors is all too common.  But some people have figured out a way to shrink fibroids and avoid surgery all together… It’s something many women can not conceive. They say to themselves, “It’s genetic. My mother, aunts, and sister have them, so I was bound to develop them also…”. Please know that we are not doo med to suffer the same ailments,
conditions and diseases our family suffers or suffered. If the body is fed what it needs, it knows how to heal itself. I’ve updated this article with the following recent statistics: Fibroids are the

Health, with randomly selected women between 35 to 49
years, who were screened by self-report, medical record and
sonography, the incidence of uterine fibroids
by age 35 was 60% among
African-American women, increasing to greater than 80% by age
50, whereas Caucasian women showed an incidence of
40% by age 35, and almost 70% by age 50. When it comes to
fibroids, they
can be prevented. And there
are ways to shrink them naturally and
avoid surgery. But how can we do any of this if most times women
don’t know they are ‘feeding‘ their fibroids?
 If you have fibroids and drink
and eat COFFEE, CHOCOLATE, SODAS, TEAS/ICE TEAS and
BEEF/CHICKEN/TURKEY, then you may be ‘feeding’ your
fibroids. Instead of helping your body shrink them,
they may grow larger. In my practice these are the first foods I
recommend be eliminated from the diet.
Estrogen dominance and an overloaded
liver are some causes for uterine fibroid risk, and the
above list of foods cause more hormonal imbalance. Even organic
versions or decaffeinated versions of the above foods. What we eat
determines whether we put ourselves at risk for fibroids. Period.
It’s so true to the point that an Italian scientist in studies
showed women who eat plenty of vegetables cut their
fibroid risk in half, while women who eat red meat
double their risk!  And there is a controversy regarding
soy.  The following is very
important to understand: Soybeans
contain the compounds genistein and
daidzein, which are estrogenic and reduce the
risk of breast cancer as well as reduce hot
flashes and other types of menopausal
discomfort.  If they reduce the risk of cancer, then the
thought of them causing fibroids is not true. The type of estrogens
that are harmful to a woman’s health are
xenoestrogens.
This type of
xenohormone imitates
estrogen.  These estrogens are
foreign to the human body and the bad news is that
xenoestrogens are not only in plastics and styrofoam, but its in
the hormones the stockmen and farmers use to fatten up their
animals for market – beef,
chicken, turkey, pork.  These xenoestrogens
put you at risk of estrogen dominance, and in turn make a woman
more prone to developing abnormal cell growth, or ‘feeding’
abnormal cells. With that said, studies also show uterine
fibroids to be more common than blue
eyes. They are painful and cause excessive menstrual
bleeding. In my years of experience I also tell clients and
patients, “Do not wear tampons”.
Your body does NOT
eliminate monthly menstrual waste
properly if something is obstructing the vaginal tract.  And
Ladies, a tampon can never absorb a menstrual blood clot.
Wear organic maxi-pads.  It is necessary
to avoid the chlorine and other chemicals in
traditional pads so as not to suffer heavy menstrual bleeding,
itching, odor, and vaginal discomfort in the form of discharge all
due to the interaction of these chemicals with your body chemistry.

Super Mineral Prevents Colon Cancer!

Decline in memory and normal thought processes, as well as increased risk for digestive cancers are ever present on the minds of many aging adults. Degenerative brain health leading to Alzheimer's dementia and a lifetime of poor diet precipitate increased risk for colon cancer, both chronic conditions that are easily prevented by maintaining adequate magnesium stores at the cellular level through supplementation and healthy diet.

Magnesium deficiency runs rampant with children and adults of all ages as the essential mineral is removed from many foods and grossly lacking in most natural vegetable sources due to depletion in farmland soils. Magnesium is required to maintain genetic integrity, reduce systemic inflammation and to complete a number of critical enzymatic reactions. Decades of suboptimal intake are a recipe for dementia and cancer.

A research team has published the results of a study in the journal Neuron to explain how magnesium directly improves synaptic plasticity. Lead study author, Dr. Guosong Liu has found that various regions in the brain associated with learning and memory experienced significant improvements in synaptic function as a result of magnesium dietary supplementation. He noted "Our findings suggest that elevating brain magnesium content via increasing magnesium intake might be a useful new strategy to enhance cognitive abilities."

Magnesium lowers colon cancer risk in a dose-dependent manner

Additional evidence for the importance of dietary magnesium is published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Researchers reviewed dietary questionnaire data on 768 participants to determine food frequency consumption. The scientists also combined six prospective cohort studies to find a significant association between dietary magnesium intake and risk of colorectal adenomas. The study demonstrated that for each increase of 100 mg of magnesium per day, the risk of colon cancer drops by 13 percent.

Researchers conducting this study concluded "Our findings support the hypothesis that higher intakes of dietary magnesium are associated with lower risk of colorectal tumors. The consumption of magnesium-rich foods may be a new avenue to explore further in the search for cancer-prevention strategies." Interestingly, the study found that while supplementation with magnesium effectively lowers colon cancer risk for everyone, optimal risk reduction was noted for those participants who were either overweight or obese.

Magnesium lowers cellular inflammation that causes a slow degenerative process in overweight individuals. The mineral also helps prevent premature degradation of DNA that can lead to genetic mutations and tumor development. Nutrition experts recommend supplementing with 600 to 1,000 mg of a quality form of magnesium daily to prevent Alzheimer's dementia and halt colon cancer progression in its tracks.

Processed foods contain healthier ingredients in foreign markets than they do in US

It is bad enough that many processed foods currently on the market today still contain artificial dyes, chemical stabilizers and preservatives, refined sugars and various other toxic, yet FDA-approved, ingredients. But a recent investigation by FoodBabe.com reveals a shocking double standard within the food industry: processed foods created for the American market are often far worse nutritionally than those created for foreign markets, despite claims by the food industry that there are simply no acceptable or safe alternatives to their current U.S. product formulations.

Many popular processed foods, such as Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, Ritz Crackers, McDonald's French fries and Pizza Hut Garlic Cheese Bread, to name just a few, are intentionally formulated much differently here in the U.S. than they are elsewhere. Foreign varieties of these and many other processed foods are generally healthier, contain fewer or no toxic additives and are all-around more appealing from a health standpoint than their American counterparts.

Take Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, for instance. The American version of this popular processed food product contains a laundry list of unhealthy ingredients, including enriched flour, artificial cheese flavors, chemical preservatives and synthetic, petroleum-based dyes like Yellow 5, which has been linked to triggering behavioral problems in children. The U.K. version, on the other hand, known as "Cheesey Pasta," contains simple ingredients like durum wheat semolina, which is much healthier than refined flour, real cheese and natural colors derived from paprika and beta carotene.

The same goes for McDonald's French fries, which in the U.S. are loaded with hydrogenated oils, synthetic flavoring agents and dangerous chemical preservatives like TBHQ and dimethylpolysiloxane -- this anti-foaming agent, as we previously reported, is a key ingredient in children's Silly Putty. In the U.K., however, McDonald's French fries contain only natural potatoes, salt, a little bit of sugar and non-hydrogenated vegetable oil.

What about Quaker Oats breakfast cereal? Surely this popular "healthy" food item is limited to simple oats and fruit, right? Wrong. In the U.S., Quaker Oats strawberry flavor oatmeal cereal contains poisonous additives like partially hydrogenated soybean oil, artificial strawberry flavor, Red 40, a slew of chemical preservatives and even more artificial flavoring agents. The U.K. version of this same product, on the other hand, contains no hydrogenated oils, no fake strawberry flavor and actual freeze-dried strawberry pieces.

Earthlings: A Devastating Documentary on Humanity's Lack of Respect for Other Living Creatures

It is with sadness that I write this blog entry. I just finished watching a documentary called Earthlings that contains the most abominable acts of cruelty towards animals that I have ever seen.

It's hard to believe that this important documentary has been available for more than a year on DVD. I am so thankful to have come across it, and I hope that all of our readers take time to view it.

Anal & Rectal Problems

At Dhealthstore.com, we cover every part and organ in the human body and every health issue pertaining to human beings and unashamedly. Well, the anus is a human body part and causes some issues today with many human beings for various reasons. It's not often that you'll hear about anal problems and solutions so we have decided to tackle this subject via article for our reviewing or reading audience.

Before we can deal with anal issue and problems, we must first know what the anus and its auxiliary parts are.

ANATOMY
The anus is the opening at the terminal end of the anal canal. The anal canal is the final portion of the alimentary tract, about 4 cm long, between the rectal ampulla and the anus.

The rectum is "the large portion of the large intestine, about 12 cm long, continuous with the descending sigmoid colon, just proximal to the anal canal." Mosby's Medical Dictionary, 3rd ed., p. 1011

It may sound strange but the alimentary canal actually begins at the mouth. Yes, it begins at the mouth and ends at the anus. Food enters the body at the mouth and exits at the anus.

Because the alimentary canal begins at the mouth, at Dherbs.Com we constantly promote taking carbon (activated charcoal) in powdered form which can be swallowed (in a glass of water) from the mouth and travel through the stomach down to the intestines and ultimately to the rectum. Carbon in capsule form cannot do this as capsules disintegrate in the stomach after 30-45 minutes.

DISEASES AND AILMENTS OF THE ANUS

"Anal Fissure."
An anal fissure is "an linear ulceration or laceration of the skin of the anus." Mosby's supra.

An anal fissure could very well stem from an STD infection. However, an anal fissure denotes healing on the part of the body. Lesions and ulcerations on the body are signs that the body is attempting to expel waste, mainly because the normal eliminative channels are clogged and not accessible for the expelling of the waste. So while an ulceration or laceration may be quite irritating and perhaps embarrassing to many people, to the human body HEALING is taking place.

"Anal Fistula."
An anal fistula is "an abnormal opening on the cutaneous surface near the anus, usually resulting in a local crypt abscess and also common in Chron's disease. A perineal fistula may or may not communicate with the rectum." Mosby's supra, p. 59

An anal crypt is defined as "the depression between rectal columns that encloses networks of veins that, when inflamed and swollen, are called hemorrhoids.

"Hemorrhoids."
Hemorrhoids basically means "blood flow" [Greek 'haima' meaning "blood" + 'rhoia' meaning "flow"].

Hemorrhoid is "a varicosity in the lower rectum or anus caused by congestion in the veins of the hemorrhoidal plexus. Internal hemorrhoids originate above the internal sphincter of the anus, they become constricted and painful. Small internal hemorrhoids may bleed with defecation. External hemorrhoids appear outside the anal sphincter. They are usually not painful, and bleeding does not occur unless a hemorrhoidal vein ruptures or thromboses." Mosby's supra, p. 559

The greatest causative factor of hemorrhoids is CONSTIPATION. See our “Constipation” article to learn about causes and effects and remedies for this insidious disease.

Working on the colon, cleansing it, and keeping it clean and functioning optimally is the best way to prevent constipation and thus hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids result from straining or excess straining while on the toilet in the process of defecation. When and if your stools are hard like cement bricks, you'll be straining while on the toilet - guaranteed. Only one thing causes the stools to become like bricks and that is the SAD (Standard American Diet): meat [dead slaughtered animal flesh, carrion], dairy products [liquid meat; cow snot-pus]; refined grains [sticking glue], refined starches [stiffening agent], etc.

When the stools are hard and one has to strain, fruits and vegetables are not being eaten at all or enough in the daily diet. Enzymes are missing. These enzymes are very necessary because they help stimulate peristalsis (bowel movement). Fruits and vegetables and other "living" foods are loaded with enzymes. Dead (processed) foods lack necessary enzymes. Processed foods may taste good (due to chemical food additives that deceive the palate), but taste is not the criterion for health. It never was and it will never be!

"Anal itching."
In most cases, anal itching or irritation may be a sign of parasites (parasitic infestation). Parasites are subject to infestation in any part of the body and the rectum and anus are no exception.

Itching in the area of the anus could also stem from an STD infection, like genital herpes. It is very common for warts, bumps, and lesions to appear in the area of the anus.

I have found that in most cases, anal itching is caused by parasitic infection in the anus.

Anal itching can be quite irritating (and embarrassing) because the anus is a strange place for one to scratch.

"Anal-rectal bleeding."
Anal or rectal bleeding can denote a few things health-wise. Anal bleeding can be a sign of ulcers (due to stress and/or aspirin drug use which literally burns a hole into the intestines as aspirin coverts into harmful and corrosive acetic acid). When one goes to defecate, the stools have blood in them. This can be from either internal hemorrhoids, internal ulcers, or in the worst-case scenario, cancer (i.e. stomach, colon, or rectal).

Dead animal flesh from meat consumption can sit in the rectum and rot and become cancerous. Though only 13% of the total U.S. population, African-Americans lead the nation in cases of colon and rectal cancer. I truly believe a variation of the standard American diet called 'soul food' (created by enslaved Black people during American slavery c. 1555-1865) plays a major role in Blacks or African-Americans leading the nation in colon and rectal cancer.

The 'soul food' diet is the worst diet a person can eat in my opinion. In fact, so-called free people shouldn't eat 'soul food' at all or in the first place, especially when one understands that this diet originated out of enslavement (a time of disempowerment).

Black people ate the worst so-called food (i.e., pig entrails, a/k/a chitterlings, ham hock) because they could do no better and had no choice to eat better BACK THEN (i.e. slavery days). They ate what they could and what was available, which was usually the worst part of the animal or the leftovers of an animal. But today, there's plenty of choice! Healthy choices! But the simple fact that the majority of African-Americans still like to eat what their enslaved ancestors ate is a clear sign of the effectiveness of the Willie Lynch Syndrome, whether Mr. Lynch existed or not (as it is the syndrome that is effective), and Post Slavery Traumatic Syndrome. To have a present-day choice to eat better (healthier) but instead voluntarily choose to eat unhealthy denotes pathology in the form of MENTAL DISEASE!

Anal bleeding can also be the result of anal penetration. The skin sheath or covering of the anus is only one coat or layer strong unlike the female vagina, which is three coats or layers strong, in addition to the ability to self-lubricate unlike the anus. When the skin tears from anal penetration, bleeding will occur.

Anal penetration is big today, especially here in the U.S. and is result of excessive sexual repression. Sexual practices that were once taboo, are chic today.

Homosexual males have always engaged in anal penetration but the practice is big today amongst heterosexuals. People are engaging in anal sex today for many reasons, i.e., for sexual experience and exploration or for deeper psychological reasons.

In sexual psychology, the need to anal penetrate someone denotes a feeling of the need to inflict punishment on someone; and on the flip side, the need and/or desire of someone to be anally penetrated denotes a feeling of the need to be punished stemming from a feeling of guilt or naughtiness. Now remember, we’re talking sexual psychology since nowadays many are into anal sex and it has no association with punishment whatsoever.

Anal penetration is penal in nature. It is ironic to me that 'penal' pertains to the male penis as well as 'crime' or 'criminal' (as in penal institution or Penal Code). Without a doubt the male penis is associated with punishment. Is it any wonder that in U.S. jails and prisons (penal institutions) anal penetration is a common practice and is used as a form of punishment by inmates?

I'm not saying anal sex or penetration is criminal, because I believe in 'to each his own' and/or free will. Everything boils down to experience. Many people enjoy anal sex due to the sensation and gratification they receive, especially males (homosexuals), as anal sex can have a stimulating effect on the prostate gland. But at the same time it can damage the anal sphincter muscle and cause anal bleeding and leaking of feces or fecal liquid (which is common in many homosexual males).

And for women who engage in anal sex and who allow males to ejaculate sperm/semen into their rectums on an ongoing basis, they can develop all kinds of health problems from anal bleeding, constipation (due to blocking the downward spiral energy of the rectum which physically manifests with the colon being blocked with physical debris), anal infection (herpes, warts), and even rectal cancer (over many years).

Hygiene is a big part of anal sex if you engage in this act. For the female who allows herself to be penetrated anally, followed by vaginal penetration, is subjecting herself to serious bacterial infection. And God forbid she performs fellatio on the penis that just came out of her rectum.

There should be no vaginal penetration or fellatio after anal penetration. However, the sad truth is that many out there simply have no regard to health and hygiene and are allowing the penis that entered their rectum to enter their mouth and/or vagina. This is being performed by overly permissive and submissive individuals who have the need to be punished, victimized, taken advantage of, disrespected, and devalued for mental and psychological reasons usually due to imbalanced lower chakras and underlying feelings or emotions of fear, guilt, and shame usually stemming from childhood or past life trauma.

"Rectal cancer."

Rectal cancer can result from various things, i.e. "keeping shit (negativity, drama) in" over one's entire lifetime, numerous years of anal abuse via anal penetration from various males who ejaculate not only their sperm, but their sick intention (energy) into the person, and insalubrious diet loaded with dead animal flesh (meat).

As all disease is first energetic and metaphysics apply in cases of all disease and disorder, the biggest causative factor of rectal cancer in my honest assessment is "keeping or holding shit (stuff, drama, negativity) in for numerous years," putting up with people, events, and circumstances that are "a pain in the ass", and "taking it up the ass" or "bending over" (meaning, allowing people to shaft you, disrespect you, dominate you, punk you, and/or control you because you feel powerless and/or dependent on these individuals for something.

People who easily and politely "bend over" and "take it up the ass" metaphorically speaking, just to please people are people who have given up their power, their personal power and sovereignty. They don't rule or govern themselves and their lives. They exist for the pleasure of others. They are dependent upon others for their life or livelihood or they just feel powerless due to feeling like a victim. They are people who easily compromise what they believe in and stand for. They don't like confrontation so much to the point that they just prefer to "bend over" and get "fucked up the ass", but they always and only walk away with nothing but a feeling or sense of pain, humiliation, and/or embarrassment.

Years of frustration, sorrow, grief, anger, humiliation, and embarrassment eat these people up inside and continue to build up in these people over the years and because these people don't know how to release these negative emotions and/or change their thinking and attitude to positive ones, they manifest their emotions that eat them up and/or get the best of them, physically - the result being cancer in the rectum because the energy was one of "taking it up the ass" or "bending over."

Shit (negativity, drama) is released from the anus and because these people didn't release their 'shit' (or 'bullshit') from the rectum of their minds, they ended up developing cancer in their physical rectum of their body, fulfilling the universal maxim, "as above, so below" and "as within, so without."

The above brings us to the metaphysical causation of anal problems.

METAPHYSICS OF ANAL PROBLEMS
Our bodies responds to the vibration of words and when it comes to the anus, rectum, and the entire intestinal tract and its function and what comes out of it for that matter, the majority of people have a disdain for this system, its body parts, and the refuse that is eliminated from it.

In the English language, so much blatant disrespect is associated with the "ass" (rectum) and what comes out of it (feces, defecation, maconium, refuse, a/k/a "shit"). Just look at the plethora of pejorative terms and phrases linked to the anus and rectum:

"You're an asshole!"

"Stick your head up your ass!"

"You're an ass!"

"You're a tight ass!"

"Ass wipe!"

"You're giving me a booty ache!"

"You're simply assed out!"

"You're up shit creek without a paddle!"

"You got your ass handed to you!"

"I'll kick your ass!"

"You ain't shit!"

"You make my ass hurt!"

"Fuck you in your ass, bitch!"

The entire alimentary canal responds to these statements that are recorded in the subconscious mind at the solar plexus, our power center. The solar plexus is the home of the ego and the statements and phrases supra impact and activate the ego. Many of these phrases and statements supra can put out the light of your personal power and overlap into the area of the neighboring chakras, especially the fourth chakra (love center) and the second chakra (relationship and emotions center).

Healthy gut bacteria help body regrow intestinal cells, surprised researchers discover

It is becoming common knowledge that the human intestinal system is dependent upon a diverse and populous mix of beneficial bacteria in order to maintain strong immunity and to function as designed. But new research out of Georgia has shown, perhaps for the first time, that natural gut bacteria is also necessary to repair and maintain a healthy intestinal cellular system and that gut microbes are fully capable of regrowing damaged or compromised tissue.

This shocking finding was uncovered by researchers from the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta who tested the effects of certain strains of bacteria, including those from the Lactobacillus genus, on both Drosophila fruit flies and mice. They learned that some of these bacterial strains trigger the production of host epithelial cells, which line the various cavities of the body, which in turn activates and proliferates the spread of intestinal stem cells.

Specifically, Lactobacillus bacteria was observed to stimulate the production and cellular proliferation of NADPH oxidase 1 (Nox1)-dependent ROS (reactive oxygen species), which serve as signaling messengers for the various systems of the body that regulate normal and healthy biology. Without these important messengers, the digestive system in particular can go awry, resulting in metabolic and infectious disorders, allergies and gut conditions like inflammatory bowel disease.

"It is well-known that mammals live in a homeostatic symbiosis with their gut microbiota and that they influence a wide range of physiological processes. However, the molecular mechanisms of the symbiotic cross-talk in the gut are largely unrecognized," stated Andrew S. Neish, a professor at the Emory University School of Medicine who led the research.

"In our study, we have discovered that Lactobacilli can stimulate reactive oxygen species that have regulatory effects on intestinal stem cells, including the activation of proliferation of these cells."

Many chronic ailments could be the result of lacking gut microbes, suggests research

Conversely, a lack of these important bacteria could be a major driving factor in the rise of chronic disease. Since the advent of antibiotic drugs, which kill off both harmful and beneficial bacteria throughout the body, the prevalence of gut conditions and related immune disorders has skyrocketed. Supplementing with the right probiotics, in other words, could be the cure many people are looking for.

"When animal guts were colonized by Lactobacillus, ROS production caused cell growth in intestinal stem cells," explains an announcement about the study published by AlphaGalileo.org. "In contrast, in germ-free animals ROS production was absent and resulted in suppressed growth of epithelial cells."

These incredible findings speaks for themselves and finally offer some logistical insight into how the human gut communicates with bacteria, and vice versa. It also helps reinforce the fact that bacterial balance is crucial for optimal health. A lack of healthy gut bacteria, or a serious imbalance, has been linked to all sorts of health problems, including stress, anxiety, behavioral disorders, obesity and autism.

"A healthy gut absorbs nutrients and disperses them throughout the body, and also helps us filter out dangerous bacteria, chemicals and toxins," writes Dr. Carolyn C. Waist Size Linked With Longevity

Even if you don’t need to watch your weight, you still need to watch your waist.

That’s the conclusion of a new study from the American Cancer Society, which tracked the health of more than 100,000 people over nine years. Having a large waist size doubled the risk of dying from any cause during the study period compared to those with smaller waists, according to the report, which was published in The Archives of Internal Medicine. Having a larger waist was associated with a higher risk of death whether the person was normal weight, overweight or obese.

The researchers reported a particularly striking finding for women. They noted that the association between waist size and mortality risk was strongest among women who were at a normal weight.

“The take-home is that it’s important to watch your waist as well as your weight,” said Eric J. Jacobs, an epidemiologist with the American Cancer Society in Atlanta. “Even if your weight is normal for your height, if your waist size is increasing, if you’re moving to a bigger pant size, that’s a warning sign that it’s time to start eating better and exercising more.”

A thick waist has long been considered a risk factor for heart disease, but the new study found it also increases risk for dying from cancer, respiratory failure and other causes. Having a large waist is associated with large amounts of visceral fat around the abdominal organs, which can cause inflammation, high cholesterol, insulin resistance and other problems linked with poor health.

In the study, Dr. Jacobs and colleagues tracked 48,500 men and 56,343 women over 50 from 1997 to 2006. A total of 9,315 men and 5,332 women died during the study period.

A waist size of 47 inches or larger for men and 42 inches or larger for women doubled the risk of dying during the study period, compared to those with smaller waists (35.4 inches for men and 29.5 inches for women). Among normal-weight women, the risk of dying increased about 25 percent for each additional four inches of waist size.

For the study, waist size was measured by taking a tape measure and running it around the waist just above the navel.

Dr. Jacobs notes that while it can be difficult to reduce waist size, small changes can have a meaningful effect on health. “There is clear evidence that eating better and exercising more will reduce waist size and burn off belly fat,” he said. “Even a modest reduction in waist size, an inch or two, could be quite helpful.”

DuPont Sued Over Selling Cancer Causing Products!

Back in April 2013, DuPont was sued in a wrongful death case when a court-appointed science panel linked DuPont's C8 (perfluorooctanoic acid) to kidney cancer, thyroid disease and testicular cancer, to name a few adverse effects.

2001 lawsuit advances forward
Dupont's C8 chemical, the key ingredient in their Teflon brand, is primarily used as a synthetic coating in cookware. Back in 2001, the C8 chemical was found in Ohio and West Virginia residents' drinking water near DuPont's Parkersburg, West Virginia, plant on the Ohio border. Back then, 80,000 area residents filed a class action lawsuit against DuPont for contaminating their water sources with C8 and ravaging their health. DuPont settled to pay $343 million of the residents' medical tests, also promising to remove C8 from the area's water supply. A court-approved science panel was hired to study C8 and its ability to cause disease in humans over the past thirteen years.

The cancer link has been established
Now the verdict is in. A court-appointed science panel has testified that C8 has probable links to various cancers. With the link now made, nearly 50 new cases are rising up against DuPont, including a lawsuit filed by nine injured Ohio and West Virginia residents who were affected by the C8 water poisoning in 2001.

Rob Bilott, the Cincinnati attorney who has been representing the residents since 2001, says, "These are folks who've been waiting many, many years to be able to pursue these claims. Our goal is to be able to get these resolved for them and move forward as quickly as we can."

Now that the cancer link has been made, Dupont is set to face waves of angry lawsuits, as the company is now indebted to make some major changes.

But even with the cancer links, those changes might not come for another two or more years, as the 50 recent lawsuits have been pushed back and scheduled for late 2015. And in the meantime, DuPont themselves are set to continue manufacturing C8 and Teflon coating like there's nothing even wrong.

The accusations against DuPont include concealing information, fraud, deception and battery.
The lawsuits, spanning 50 pages, accuse the company of "negligent, intentional and reckless infliction of emotional distress and outrage," citing research conducted by DuPont themselves in 1961 which reported C8's toxicity, including "higher than normal birth defects among babies born to its female employees."

Teflon is in more than just cookware
Teflon is typically recognized as the non-stick coating on various cookware brands, but what many consumers don't realize is that this carcinogenic non-stick formula has made its way into a host of other consumer goods, including clothing and even eyeglasses.

As if drinking C8 wasn't bad enough, DuPont thinks it's alright for people eat off the chemical or even wear it all day long. Teflon is used as "fabric protector" in select clothing brands and can even be used in bedding, carpet, paint and upholstery. It's so universal as a "fabric protector" that it may as well just be used to cover the entire home, right? Might as well spray the chemical all over the body as a "skin protectant" too, right?

Wrong, C8 and its brother, Teflon, have no benefit, no purpose, anywhere, any time. Cancer-causing chemicals like these should be banned outright and avoided altogether. All manufacturing should be halted immediately, especially with the recent links to cancer.

Before 1940, more than 85% of the U.S. Population used Drugless Healers

The news blackout and disinformation campaign of natural cures has been so effective since WWII that most people do not ever learn of the "disappeared" therapies until the fateful moment when they or their loved ones are diagnosed with some dreadful disease. Then and only then will they begin "fighting for their lives" and delve into the plethora of alternative medicine, and throw to the wayside all of the supposedly "scientifically supported" mainstream medicine they fear so much.

It wasn't always this way. Just 100 years ago, what we call "alternative" medicine was main stream, consisting of herbs, tinctures, roots and medicinal mushrooms which indigenous societies have proven effective for THOUSANDS OF YEARS. Doctors making house calls and traveling snake oil salesmen were not called "quacks" because they were not quacks at all. Conversely, they were nipping disease and disorder (what little existed) in the bud, using Nature's powerful extracts and herbal tinctures based on a long history of proven methods; from China to Brazil, from India to Australia, and right back here to the local roots of the Native Americans.

Just 100 years ago in the United States, medicine was not a lucrative business. Scarce was a case of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis or Alzheimer's, and there were no pharmaceutically induced deaths.
